| dc.description.abstract | The authors have stated the abilities can applied of Tele-Medicine technology in service of health for seafarers, fishermen, other maritime workers and people are living and working on the sea and island. Applied results of Tele-medicine in Vietnam National Institute of Maritime Medicine from 2005-2007 showed that: The issue of health Certificate for seafarers in some medical Clinics was not serious. So that, there were some not good health seafarers who were still enough health to go at sea. Some of companies has not interested in sending maritime officer to be trained of maritime medicine. In fact, most of officers, who had been trained on maritime medicine in VINIMAM have good skill enough to exam and treat for ill seafarers follow the guides through Tele-Medicine by Doctors in VINIMAM and apply well first aid on ship. For some officers, who has not been trained Maritime medicine can receive the guides from Doctors on land less effect (do not know exam for ill persons and cannot apply skill in treating for patients follow the instructs of Doctors on land, so make a lot of difficulties to rescue the ill seafarers on ship). For some ships, which was not equipped medicine chest or chest not follow standard of WHO/ ILO (because Vietnam has not enforced yet the regulations of medicine chest and equipments for ship), so the Doctors had a lot of difficulties when giving medical advices for ships. So, the development and applying Tele-Medicine technology in maritime and island medicine activities are necessary and urgent. | vi |
